MBA Interview Do's and Dont's

Interview Tips
Be yourself. True, that’s always good advice. But it’s not enough. Here are a few tips and suggestions to help you make the best impression—in any interview.
Go Beyond Basic ResearchSure, we expect you to know about our company, our businesses, our customers, industry trends, and the position you’re seeking. But dig deeper. What opportunities and challenges are on the horizon in this market segment? Was there a recent merger or acquisition that affects the group's product line? How much revenue does this business represent? What are customers saying?

Find Out Who's Who
During your interview day, try to learn something about each of the people you'll be meeting with. Ask different questions and focus on each person's responses. Keep in mind that anyone in the interview loop can have input into hiring decisions—from Vice Presidents and Group Managers to your recruiter and potential future peers.

Ask Meaningful Questions
The questions you ask us are a crucial part of any interview. They demonstrate your level of understanding, your interests, and your passions. We also understand that you're evaluating your career options. So bring it on. Ask us about the nuances of our business model, probe our market strategies, and question the inner workings of our product cycle.

Be Flexible
Change is constant, and opportunities can shift quickly. That means groups change, job openings evolve, and interview schedules fluctuate. Trust us, there's a method to this madness. We appreciate your flexibility.

Stay Open to New Possibilities
Don't be discouraged if your interviewer says, "I don't see a fit here, but check with the people in this other group. I hear they’re looking for a strategic person like you.” Instead, follow up on that lead by asking your School Recruiter for assistance. The average MBA changes jobs at about every 18 to 24 months. New opportunities come along regularly.

Wear Business Attire
While much of employee prefer dressing in the requisite jeans and T-shirts, many of our MBA employees go face-to-face with key customers and executives on a frequent basis. So dress as if you were going to meet with one of them, too. There will be plenty of time for jeans and sandals later!

Relax
We already view you as a top candidate. Now you can just relax and let your natural enthusiasm come through.
